The name says it all. Not the best place to bring the girlfriend on anniversaries and birthdays in search of romantic atmosphere. Good place to entertain yourself in XXX way :)

Another experience of a tourist who visited Riga some time ago:

“…Well, the women in Riga are amazing, starting with the girl at the tourist bureau, continuing with the girls at the money exchange and continuing every 30 seconds for the rest of your stay. There is a curious combination of bright blue eyes with blonde to dark skin and hair. On the street you will get plenty of women smile at you; all you have to do is smile back and chat a little. Sometimes they are pros, sometimes they are not. If they are pros they will let you know fairly quickly and ask between 25-40 Lats. A fair price, I would say.

A traditional Midsummer Night nude run attracted about 50 participants in Kuldiga ( Latvia ).

Participants represented both genders and different ages. Some were completely nude, while some were wearing traditional oak wreaths or hats.

If you are a budget tourist - it is not a part of your plan to spend lots of money on accommodation in Riga ( better spend’em on girls! ).  On the other hand you don’t want to choose something cheap like hostel - the comfort is still important to you… So, you can rent the apartments during your visit.  The prices are between 40 and 150 EUR. Additional services ( e.g. transfer ) in most cases are available. An agency which provides apartments for rent in Riga.

“… Like other Eastern European capitals, Riga has become a popular destination for groups of men on stag nights, celebrated by a groom with his friends before getting married.  This has led to a boom for pubs, clubs and strip bars and concern over a growing sex industry.

The campaign is aimed at local girls, showing them the dangers of getting involved with tourists…”

Interesting article published in local latvian newspaper two years ago:

“…In essence, this sex tourism phenomenon should not come as a surprise. Riga is inexpensive, attractive and, to put it bluntly, fun (all relative, to be sure, but true nonetheless). These are its advantages, so the city’s leadership should use them. It may be politically incorrect to say it, but Latvian women are beautiful; those who think otherwise should ask a representative of any international modeling agency…”
